Tune into recycling with Troy Cassar-Daley

Australian Country Music super star, Troy Cassar-Daley is visiting Tamworth today, to launch the annual Toyota Country Music Festival recycling campaign ‘Tune In To Recycling’.

The campaign, which has been running since 2002 has had Cassar-Daley as Ambassador for those same 15 years, a position he says he is very proud to hold.

Tune In To Recycling is a fantastic opportunity for me to combine my love of Tamworth and passion for the environment,” said Cassar-Daley.

‘‘Tamworth has given so much to me over the years and I am proud to be able to give something back to Tamworth by spreading the recycling message to benefit the local environment.’’

Every year during the Festival, approximately eight ton of recycling is collected from the CBD, Riverside Camp Grounds and Bicentennial Park.  That’s equivalent to 520,000 aluminium cans.

To commemorate Cassar-Daley’s association with the campaign and to help put the positive message of sustainability front and centre in people’s minds, the campaign launch will be held at the Challenge Recycling Centre, where the award winning artist will take time to thank the valued staff who undertake the sorting of the recycling.

Victor Collet, Manager of the Challenge Recycling Centre said: “The staff at the centre appreciate the recognition from Troy, the Tamworth Regional Council and the community because while it may not be a glamourous job it is one they do with pride.”

Cassar-Daley will celebrate his 36th year performing at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2017.  He has won an impressive 32 Golden Guitars and is in the running for another two (Album of the Year and Male Artist of the Year) in 2017.

Troy’s show Celebrating Australia’s Great Showmen and Women will be one of the most popular events of the Festival calendar, as it celebrates some of the pioneers of the wonderful Australian country music industry.  The show will be held at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre on Thursday, 26 January 2017 at 4.00pm head to for further information and tickets.

Tamworth Regional Council acknowledges the Gamilaroi/Kamilaroi people, who are the Traditional Custodians of this land. We would like to pay respect to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in and visiting our region.
