The Festival may look different in 2021, but there will still be country music in Tamworth in January

05 August 2020

The Toyota Country Music Festival is less than six months away. Despite continued uncertainty due to Covid-19, plans are still underway for TCMF 2021, with the Festival set to look different to previous years.

Social distancing measures will mean that many of the usual elements of the Festival are unable to continue. However, fans can rest assured that country music will still be found in Tamworth in January, as Tamworth is and always will be the Capital of country music in Australia.

Festival Manager, Barry Harley said: “Like many others in our situation, we are hoping for the best outcome, while simultaneously preparing for the worst.

“There is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now, and we are all feeling it. Despite this, we’re are pushing forward with Festival plans because we know that our country music artists, the industry, and the Tamworth business community rely on the Festival as a significant revenue generator for the rest of the year.”

Further Festival announcements are scheduled for 1 September 2020, and another later in September which will also include shows that have tickets going on sale.  These announcements will be where the Festival team will release further information on what can be expected in 2021 as public health orders and travel restrictions change.

“We are acting in the best interests for the health and safety of the artists, the industry, and the community when we make the final decision on the 2021 Festival,” said Mr. Harley.

“We are looking at all possible scenarios, including the possibility of the event moving to a predominantly in-venue Festival, which would rely heavily on our pubs, clubs and entertainment venues.

“The Toyota Country Music Festival, Tamworth, is one of the best Festival experiences on offer.  It is the country’s most prominent supporter of Australian country music and as we all face a challenging and unusual time ahead, we appreciate all the support shown by fans and sponsors and we encourage everyone to support your favourite country music artists in any way, in the coming months.”
