Golden Star Helps Next Generation of Artists in Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s

The reigning Toyota Golden Guitar Female Artist of the Year is set to help the next generation of country stars kick start their musical journey, with Amber Lawrence returning as ambassador for the 2024 Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s competition.

The six-time Golden Guitar winner and ARIA nominated artist will once again take on a mentoring role at next year’s Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth, working with entrants of the Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s competition.

Toyota Country Music Festival Manager, Barry Harley, is now encouraging budding artists ready to kick start their career to register for the competition, with entries open for 2024.

“The Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s is a fantastic opportunity for young artists to gain performance experience and learn the ropes of the music industry,” he said.

“Thanks to the support of McDonald’s Australia, entrants will once again have the chance to work with one of Australia’s most respected country music artists.

“It is fabulous to see Amber return as ambassador of the 2024 Golden Gig, and share her wisdom with the next generation of stars.”

As part of her ambassador and mentoring role, Amber will work directly with junior and senior competitors during the 2024Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s competition, with the champions of each category also winning one one-on-one mentoring session as part of their prize packages.

Ms Lawrence says she is excited to see the next batch of budding country music stars in Tamworth in January.

“This year’s Golden Gig saw some impressive talent, and I cannot wait to see what 2024 has instore,” she said.

“As an artist who got their musical start in a talent search, I know how important it is to have guidance from someone with industry experience, and I am honoured to be able to share some advice with those looking for a career in music.”

The 2024 Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s competition will see plenty of prizes up for grabs, with first place in the senior category (13 to 17 years) receiving a scholarship to the Country Music Association of Australia’s Junior Academy, valued at $3,300, as well as three separate professional mentoring sessions, a Takamine electric-acoustic guitar from Pro Music Australia, plus cash and a voucher from Capitol Music Tamworth.

The winner of the junior category (12 and under) will receive three professional mentoring sessions, a Takamine electric-acoustic guitar from Pro Music Australia, plus cash and a voucher from Capitol Music Tamworth.

Second and third place of each division will receive cash prizes and a voucher from Capitol Music Tamworth.

The Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s is open to all musicians 17 years and under. It is FREE to register for the competition, with those taking part invited to perform on the Macca’s Stage from 20-26 January, during the 2024 Toyota Country Music Festival in Tamworth which will run from 19-28 January.
