Hats off to the McGrath Foundation

Each January at the Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth, festival goers wear their love of country music on their heads by proudly donning Toyota’s iconic festival hats. The hats are available to visitors for a $2 donation during the Great Toyota Hat Giveaway events held daily.
For the past few years a unique supply of ‘Tamworth Proud’ hats has been available solely to residents of the Tamworth Region prior to Festival starting and at no cost. This year, Festival organisers have decided upon a solution that will provide greater benefit to the reason behind the hats, the McGrath Foundation.
Residents will still be able to collect Toyota hats prior to Festival, but will be asked for a $2 donation which goes directly to the McGrath Foundation that raises funds to place breast care nurses in communities across Australia.
Tamworth Regional Council Event Manager Barry Harley said “the change for residents ultimately means a greater amount will be donated to the McGrath Foundation, which is a win for everyone.”
“We are trying to bring the promotion back to its roots, in helping the McGrath Foundation to place breast care nurses all around Australia, particularly in rural areas. Breast Cancer is something that doesn’t discriminate and it is an experience no person should have to go through. The famous Toyota Hats are one way that the Festival can help raise funds that provide support to cancer patient’s right around Australia.
“Residents can still visit Ray Walsh House in the lead up to Festival to secure their 2017 Toyota Country Music Festival hat ahead of the crowds. Tamworth Regional Council staff will have a box set up to collect the $2 donation from today [Wednesday, 11 January]”.
“As with previous years, there is a limited number available before Festival, so we encourage residents to get in early. If they miss out on the first round, hats will be available each day during Festival at the Great Toyota Hat Giveaway on Peel Street.”
The Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth is proudly supported by the NSW Government though its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
The Festival kicks off in Tamworth next Friday 20 January 2017.
