Critically acclaimed, Nashville duo the latest addition to star studded Festival line-up
19, October 2016
For the first time ever Bruce Arntson and Jenny Littleton two of Nashville’s most renowned performers are bringing their legendary show – The Doyle and Debbie Show – direct to Tamworth for the Toyota Country Music Festival in January.
The Doyle and Debbie Show is a sublime parody that simultaneously lampoons and idolises country music’s tradition of iconic duos and takes audiences on a freewheeling joyride, through a wickedly funny script and slew of equally hilarious original songs.
Barry Harley, Manager Tamworth Country Music Festival said: “‘Doyle and Debbie’ have performed to a packed house at The Station Inn, Nashville every Tuesday night for the last eight years and we are supremely exultant to have them in Tamworth for the Festival.”
The Doyle and Debbie Show will run two performances daily in The Star Room at TRECC which will be transformed into relaxed Honky-Tonk bar for the occasion. Beer, pizza and lots of laughs will be the order of the day, and Barry says it’s an experience not to be missed.
“This a high quality parody of a fading country music duo that seems to channel genuine country music artists that you might love or laugh at.”
“The songs are brilliantly written and cleverly performed, it brings the whole story to life in a really funny way. In fact it’s a real belly laugh opportunity,” says Barry.
The New York Times has described the show as “a gloriously tacky send-up of a washed up country duo.” The Chicago Sun-Times says “its 90 minutes of goofy perfection – clever, hilarious, wacky and brilliantly performed” and Austin Onstage sums it up as “akin to George and Tammy doing a night at the Grand Ol’ Opry – only on mescaline.”
The Doyle and Debbie Show kicks off in Tamworth on Saturday 21 January 2017. For further information and to purchase tickets visit www.tcmf.com.au
