50th Anniversary Concert full star-studded lineup is here!

30 November 2021

In a huge announcement today, the concert to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Tamworth Country Music Festival has just added more than 40 artists to what is already a spectacular roster of country music’s brightest stars.

Some of the big names joining the lineup include Kasey Chambers, Troy Cassar-Daley (with special guest Ian Moss), The Wolfe Brothers, Beccy Cole, Melinda Schneider, Catherine Britt and many more.

Tickets are selling fast for this very special event which will be held at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Conference Centre (TRECC) on Wednesday 19th January 2022 commencing at 1pm.

The concert will document the evolution of the country’s longest running festival from its modest beginnings in 1972 into what is now the biggest festival in Australia today.

Sara Storer has been making the pilgrimage to the festival since she was a teenager where she saw her idol, John Williamson, on stage for the first time. Sara went on to record, perform and share Golden Guitar Award wins with John, the stuff of dreams for an aspiring artist.

“The Tamworth Country Music Festival has been a huge part of my life so I am thrilled to be performing at the 50th Anniversary Concert and to share the stage with my fellow artists, many of whom I am privileged to call my friends” said Sara.
For country music legend James Blundell, his Star Maker win in 1987 represented the beginning of what was to become one of the most celebrated careers in Australian music.

When asked what the festival means to him, James said, “The Tamworth Country Music Festival had a huge impact on my life. I went from chasing cattle in The Kimberley’s and Papua New Guinea one year to recording and touring the next. I will forever be grateful for the friendships I have made with other artists, musicians and the organisers who make the festival one of the best in the world.”
As well as many of country music’s brightest stars, the show will feature vision and commentary about the pioneers who helped establish Tamworth as the undisputed home of Australian country music.

This one-off event will not only showcase the best in country music but will honour the visionaries who worked to establish a festival that created an industry that celebrates Australian artists and their music, all with a distinctive sound that has had a permanent and lasting influence on our culture.

COVID-19 has had a major impact on artists, musicians, and their crew with many experiencing more than 18 months without work therefore profits from the concert will go to Support Act, Australia’s only charity delivering crisis relief services to artists, crew, and music workers because of ill health, injury, a mental health problem, or some other crisis that impacts on their ability to work in music.
