Australian Country Music Busking Championships

Tamworth's main street comes alive with colour and music for one of the great traditions of the festival, The Australian Country Music Busking Championships.

Country music stars like Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers and Beccy Cole were all discovered in Tamworth's main street and you could be next!

You need to register at Festival HQ in Peel Street from 13 January 2012 (see below for more information) and then you are on your way - you could also win cash and the chance to perform at the Festival Closing Concert on Sunday 29 January 2012 in Peel Street.

How to Register

  • Find your preferred location on the map
  • Contact the business owner to request permission
  • Complete the Busking Registration Form
  • Submit the application in person to Festival HQ - this cannot be done until Friday 13 January 2012
  • Please do not send in your application

Busking locations available on Peel Street

The map indicates the busking locations available outside Peel Street businesses for the 2012 Jayco Tamworth Country Music Festival.

You can download the Busking Registration Form, or you can obtain one from Festival HQ (inside Council foyer, 437 Peel Street Tamworth) from 13 January 2012.  Once you have registered you must obtain verbal permission from the business in front of which you wish to perform. Please refer to the busking map for a list of businesses that are willing to have a busker. See the busking map online or at Festival HQ from 13 January 2012.

The map explained
  • B – Approved Busker Location: can approach this shop
  • BL – Approved Busker Location, Limited Availability: may or may not have vacancy
  • X – No Busking Area: business has busker already or does not want a busker

All buskers must REGISTER IN PERSON for the Australian Country Music Busking Championships - it's a Council requirement.
PLEASE NOTE: Completed Busking Registration Forms cannot be lodged with Council until Friday 13 January 2012.

You can pick up a voting form and cast your vote at:

  • City Plaza: 432 - 452 Peel Street - you can cast your vote in the barrel here
  • Atrium Arcade: 345 Peel Street - you can cast your vote in the barrel here
  • Festival HQ: 437 Peel Street - you can cast your vote here

So, if you are a busker...make Peel Street boulevard your dream!

In 2011 we had more than 600 buskers performing in city streets!
