Nominations now open for the 2018 Queen of Country Music Quest

Monday, 4 September 2017

Nominations for the 2018 Queen of Country Music Quest have now opened and organisers are encouraging local businesses and community groups to get involved.

The ‘Queen Quest’ as it is commonly known has played a key role in the development of young Tamworth women since 1984 – and with the Zonta Club of Tamworth back at the helm this year, the quest continues to go from strength to strength.

Under the ‘Queen Quest’ entrants are afforded a range of personal and professional development opportunities including public speaking and etiquette training; confidence coaching; styling, image and grooming tips as well as formal media training.

As President of Zonta Club of Tamworth, Mrs. Stephanie Cameron put it: “the Queen Quest is not just a one-week event. The personal and professional development opportunities are significant and extremely worthwhile for any young woman looking to further her self-development.”

This year Zonta is hoping to see many young women take the opportunity to be a part of the 2018 Queen of Country Music Quest.

“Zonta’s focus is to empower women to grow in confidence and make a significant contribution to the community, so it is entirely fitting that we seek applicants who advocate for women and are strong female Ambassadors,” Ms. Cameron explained.

Nominations are open from now until 29 September 2017 for women aged 18 – 35 years. Applicants must be nominated and sponsored by their employer, a local business or community organisation to get involved. Applications will be assessed, with 15 successful applicants notified in early October and invited to an official welcome and induction evening. These 15 finalists will then go onto complete the personal and professional development courses, and act as advocates for the Toyota Country Music Festival in January and also Tamworth as a destination of choice in NSW.

The major honours -- Queen and Princess of Country Music -- will be announced at a gala dinner at the Tamworth Jockey Club on Sunday 28 January.

The winner will be awarded the major prize, which this year is a trip to Tamworth’s sister city, Gore in New Zealand where she will represent Tamworth at the 2018 Gore Country Music Festival.

Both the Queen and Princess will be ambassadors for Tamworth and the Region throughout 2018, spending the next 12 months involved in a range of high-profile civic and community events, guest speaking engagements and corporate and festival functions. 2017 winner Taylor Fletcher says she would definitely recommend the Queen Quest to any young female seeking support in her personal growth and development.

"The Queen Quest not only provided me with significant professional development opportunities, it provided me the opportunity to network and develop strong relationships with other like minded women from the region which has proven to be invaluable.”

Entrants must be available to attend all scheduled training and events in the lead-up to and during the Toyota Country Music Festival.
