Australia's Largest Music Festival. 10 days. 700 Artists. 2800+ Events

20-29 January 2017

The Tamworth Country Music Festival is a finalist in the Inland Tourism Awards for the third year running.

Destination Tamworth - the division of Tamworth Regional Council which delivers its events and tourism activities - was advised this morning of the successful awards submission in the Festivals and Events Category.

Festival Manager Gavin Flanagan said it was exciting to have the Festival named an awards finalist for the third year in succession.

'The 2014 Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth was widely acknowledged as one of the best in recent years with bumper crowds seeing more than 2700 events across 120 venues over 10 days,' he said. 'Being a finalist in the awards again is further recognition of its success.' The overarching theme for the 2014 Festival was 'It's Country Music...and so much more', enabling the many different elements and experiences that make the Festival unique to be promoted.

A representative of the Awards judging panel visited the region in June to conduct an in-depth assessment of the award application and tour the city with Destination Tamworth.

In February 2013, the Festival won the nation's highest accolade when it was named Australia's best major festival and event at the Qantas Australian Tourism Award in February 2013.

The 2014 Inland Tourism Awards gala dinner and presentation night will be held in Griffith on Saturday 26 July.

A total of 35 finalists from the four regional tourism areas of Central, Inland, Murray and Riverina will compete in 17 categories.

Other finalists from the Tamworth region in the running for 2014 Inland Tourism Awards are The DAG Sheep Station at Nundle and Nundle Woollen Mill.

Inland NSW Tourism Award winners are automatically entered into the NSW State Tourism Awards.
